If you provide the source for your statistic and the exact verbiage, perhaps we can sort this out for you. There are in fact 2 ways of counting shareholders.

The O/S here is 1.6B, so I would have to agree that the volume has been very, very light. Any sort of buying moves the ask up, and any sort of selling moves the bid down.

Heck, until a week or two ago, most of the discussion here was about events that happened in May/June.

There's no accounting for how folks think and invest.

IMO, most of the shareholders listed probably don't trade the stock on a daily basis, hence the low volume. Most of them probably hold positions for extended periods of time, maybe occasionally accumulating or eventually selling out their positions. Volume comes when traders/flippers come in, which can raise the pps and make the stock more liquid and volatile. But again, IMO, lots of people who hold long-term positions that don't trade the stock.
