I did call Finra. At the suggestion of a very patient lady who gave me a number to call after a few emails back and forth. Spoke to a person in their legal dept.
When people post these numbers people seeing them are left with the impression that these are the shares that have been sold short with the intention of shorting the stock.
At least, your statememnt, This allows for MM's to be able to resonably cover throughout the day. infers you know this to not be the case.
Maybe you should post the short interest numbers as well as the Finra numbers! ( :
