Sometimes it helps to exaggerate a situation to be able to examine all the potential possibilities that could have an impact on the pps.. I'll focus in on one that might change real soon if certain situations come together.

Lets talk number of shareholders. Last count was some where around 1300 / 1500 investors. That roughly 50 per state. Extremely low number considering the investing public at large.
Why do investors, invest. They see opportunity/ money. Lets say MCLN comes out and says all there hard work throughout 2010 is paying off and they'll be getting additional contracts the early part of 2011. Investors realize this company is going to be a strong company and start to buy their stock. With only a 200 million share float the shares become scarce and the price rockets up. How high. Say 100 investors per state want shares, still a small number. Shares rocket higher as the word spreads about this little gem. More investors want shares 200 per state and the cycle continues.

Calif.-based company said it instead has authorized the repurchase of $2 billion in shares in an effort to return value to shareholders. Stock buybacks lower a company's shares outstanding, raising earnings per share and expanding the percentage size of shareholders' stakes.
