milplease: e.Digital's PRs always include as much embellishment and innuendo as possible. If they are the design, technology and manufacturing entity, I would have expected them to mention that a new MicroOS enabled embedded digeplayer incorporating a credit card swipe was also introduced and that they looked forward to providing ongoing support for that new product as well.
I really doubt that e.Digital would be in that role as they have no experience in technology or design for aircraft components. There would need to be additional technology beyond the portable players to connect the screens to the hard drives and controls, enable content loading to all of the players at once, additional electronics, credit card swipe, etc.
Additionally, there really wouldn't be a manufacturing role as they will be ordering components such as the LCD screens, separate hard drives, etc. Wencor could just order the components directly from OEMs with the FAA required ISO certification. Installation would be done by a company that specializes in aircraft interiors also with the required level of ISO certification.
Seriously, what do you think e.Digital's role could realistically be?
