Maybe I was confused from your earlier posts, did you purchase these shares or did you receive them in exchange for something else? Companies that have issued free shares in certificate form (not saying yours are) can also decide to cancel those certificates as well, has the TA told you that yours are still valid?
As far as your last sentence, I have no idea. If this does pan out, I honestly cannot tell you which date of record (if any) that they are talking about for the $6 buyback.
