Hey Sunspotter, since you have never held a position in SPPH, I just wanted to throw in my two cents on the validity of this stock. I have owned this stock for 5 days try to do a quick play because the spread of the bid and ask was just to tempting to try. It was easy to get into the stock, but when I tried to sell it I was unable to, despite having my EXACT sell order hit.
For example, lets say the ask was .28, I would put .2798, the ask would change to .2798, then I would see a trade at .2798 and it would NOT be my order. This happened 7 times! It is very unlikely that someone submitted an order exactly the same as mine to the hundredth of a cent RIGHT BEFORE I submited my own order... The only way it seemed like I could get out was by selling at the market, which was very low at the time. I believe along with the many questions concerning the validity that you have brouht up, there should be some concerns about the market maker for this stock. IF he had received inside information about upcoming announcements, he would have wanted to load up on shares. He COULD have done this by frustrating sellers that their limit order would not get hit, making them sell at the bid, which COULD have been his. I could be very off on my assumption, but the point that something is incredibly wrong with the market maker should raise concerns for any current or potential investors with SPPH.
I was able to get out of SPPH because of this recent PR (by the way who releases a PR that announces the exact time the next PR will come out unless if it was purposely meant to pump the stock up momentarily?), but wanted to at least share this with you seeing that your the moderator.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
