Last week there was an email to shareholders (I received it, and someone else was so kind to post it on the board) to announce the confirmation of the acquisition.

It's clear to me that this is a first step in increasing share value. Shareholders were able to accumulate if they wanted to. Today was a public statement from the company that should attract new potential investors who get the opportunity to do some DD before jumping on board. That, my friend, is proof of a very keen eye for strategy. The CEO is not trying to make this run for a while, he's creating long term value here.
