From an engineering design perspective, the DViS is complex. It is a rotational device that emits radiation several times per revolution. What would happen if the gantry stopped suddenly as radiation was being emitted? I would think that a good design engineer would have a built into the DViS a fail safe exit. But does it work? Will it always work? This is why the FDA required clinical trials. No lawyer will ever make the FDA jeopardize SAFETY over a self serving objective.
