Have you fully stripped the rifle yet? The bolt comes apart easily, I soaked mine in boiling water to remove all the cosmoline, then I scrubbed it all with Simple Green. Afterwords I lightly oiled the bolt with good ol' Hoppes as I reassembled it.
To answer your question, yes .30 cal (7.62) is 30 cal no matter how you measure it. Make sure you clean that bore well, corrosive ammo is damaging, while it easy to take care of it. I spray down the bore and receiver with Windex after shooting; then when I am at home I'll scrub the barrel with Windex patches until it looks a bit cleaner, then I run a brush down the bore and then one or two more with Windex. With this done I go to patches and brush with my solvents and oils.
