LFBG ,, in a nut shell .. if the shorts are less then 50% ,, possiblity of being covered is there. if they are over 50%, good chance they will carry over to the next day. IMO , when LFBG put out the info about raising the AS , the market makers took that as a sign, new shares are coming, so we can sell 2B shares , and when the new shares come to market ,, we will have no problem covering. the new shares are resricted and will not be in the market for some time.

Since they raised the AS , we have to be near or over 3B shares traded , last i counted ,, it was 2.215B traded in the few weeks after the announcment

the chart below shows the volume increase since the change in the A/S. early sept was the was the change in the SS

Farrago, allow me:

First off, realize that whatever numbers you see pertaining to a day's short count can be misleading. The daily short count does not necessarily mean that a Short(s) has opened a position for that amount. Shares often have to be transfered from one broker to another, which usually takes up to three days. It is the FTD's (failure to deliver) that raises concern.

When people sell thru NITE to people who buy thru NITE, it is pretty much a clean trade. When NITE sells to ETMM, then it might take time to execute the actual trade in shares. It depends on if your broker already has street shares or not.

Oftentimes, people think there will be a massive short squeeze (for whatever reasons), but never comes. This, primarily because they misunderstood the difference between bonafide opened short positions, and shares that were sold but not transfered yet (the day the trade occurred).
