I think the problem that the NBA will have with that concept is that they are obviously centered around the players rather than the team.
Therefore they are stuck leaving the players face on the character with no room for imagination. Where the NHL idea seems to be centered around the team mascots who do not have a set identity or image. I like the NHL concept better.
