That was what people said when it first came out, but I seem to remember more recently, around the time of the release of ipod 4 windows a Businessweek article stating something to the effect that they are making money off of it (and my faltering memory may be wrong on thing) perhaps even better margins than on their computers, which is why they were eager to get into the digital device market.

Apple spends the money to create the market and EDIG steps in and sells a better product than Apple produced. Sounds fine to me.
