I think the difference here BB that is confusing some is that with a car you can't sell it for profit until you take owner ship while with trading on margin you can barrow stock, profit and give it back with never owning it. Though when a loss is coming a shorter has to cover before losing barrowed shares AKA short covering. I think if more people short traded they would be inclined to do homework on it.
