I have never had a problem getting a Sprint CDMA signal except right here at home due to the hill directly behind my house.

I think it is possible with the right hardware to use a phone as a sort of hot spot. Maybe you could create your own relay station on top of some structure. I have also read some using Skype or Google phone services over the internet with good results. HTH
