I looked again, I can't see the condensers themselves, but the way the round viewing windows are mounted it could be that both condensers are mounted parallel, which would handle the "volume" problem.

My guess is the condensers are on the left side off screen and the thing on the right is the holding tank where the fuel falls to the bottom.

I was thinking the way to separate the gasoline from the diesel would be to add condensers in series, with the first condenser handling the heat and the second doing the fractionation.

I have no background in refining but I have taken a year of organic chemistry, a year of orgo lab, advanced organic, and advanced organic lab. Glassware is in a lab compares to oil refining only in theory, though, and I've long forgotten most of what I learned.
