Ok, lets consider the source.
Mr Putnam is plannng for the future, the companies future.
Music is being stolen and people who make their living off music want to be paid.
Which people do not want their music encrypted, the thiefs or the makers?
EDIG will make players that will allow secure music and other digital data to be used by all that pay their fair share.
Do we listen to people who want something for nothing or listen to people who make our economy work?

I would tend to believe that dataplay will continue to exist and RP is doing his best to build a company.

The whiners continue to whine while the music industry moves on.
