Suntech Power Holdings, a massive Chinese manufacturing company, plans to hire about 70 for its first North American solar-panel plant in Goodyear, AZ. The plant was expected to open this fall.

Now this is a reversal - a Chinese company building a manufacturing plant in the U.S.

Agreed - we get all gaga over making money on China, but China really is a f'd up mess. The USA may have a weaker economy at the moment, but it is 100 times the country China is right now in terms of where you should want to live.

What I really find laughable is all this talk about China having all sorts of leverage and control over the US. China has no leverage, it's the US that has China's money, not vice versa. And the US is currently giving China the benefit of a chunk of its employment--to the dismay of US laborers, who are getting very angry about it.

Militarily, to talk about China having leverage is a joke. The US could turn that entire country into a parking lot in a matter of a couple of hours. Literally.

At some point, there is going to have to be a revolution over there or some sort of political transition. Statist dictatorial communism cannot survive in a world like ours where information moves freely. It's just a matter of time.
