Those aren't P4s. They're Xeons. I thought you said the P4 were huge.

Now I'm extra-confused.

I just looked inside my personal machine (1.9Ghz P4) and looked in the manual for the webserver (dual 2.2Ghz Xeon), and the Xeon is a little square thing that mounts flat in a socket on the motherboard while the P4 in my home machine looks comparable in size and orientation. Hard to tell with the heat sink and cooling fan in the way.

Which one mounts perpendicular to the motherboard? Celeron? I know I've got a machine around here somewhere that the CPU mounts that way.

The P4 will not run in dual or multi processor mode.

Which is why people like me don't care that the P4 has hit 3Ghz. Until the speed doubles, there aren't a lot of takers. Hard to rationalize buying a new machine that's "only" 50% faster than what you've already got.

If I could go buy a motherboard that supports 4 P4's at 3Ghz and at least 16-gig of memory, I'd be in line.
