HFBG - My friend, a few things. First, you addressed me for some odd reason as I see you in my mailbox. Second, so you're frustrated and doing the right thing for you by splitting. No sense in going mad. And many here thank you because it's always a great sign to see some freaking out in frustration right before a breakthrough hits. It's just a component of the game but a welcome sign for believers.
Addressing your other concerns I have read, the Saturday event was not to my view any "official" event for HFBG. Otherwise they would have PR'd it and made a bigger splash. Second, I don't believe they were in charge of the crowd turn-out no matter what it was. Third, clearly they are a company responding to and considering the best marketing effort they can conjure. Hence adding the also-branded sweets offering accompaniment - which only makes the entire package stronger and can only open more doors.
So overall, I disagree with your assessment 100% of the current state of being of the company. You're frustrated and have lost your patience right at the end of a long road, and that's cool with everyone. gl to you elsewhere.
