OT to DD,

re: I would prefer that even objectionable posts not be pulled until a reasonable amount of time (perhaps 24 hours) has elapsed

I'm not positive, but I believe there is a 24 hour time limit placed on a moderator for removing posts. If posts are only removed for TOS violations* (Chairman (and Directors) of stock-specific boards are allowed to remove any post for Admin review that falls into the following categories: Duplicate, Personal Attack, Spam), this would quickly become a non-issue.

Dew, that person wrote a nasty message to me, some time back. I happened to see it before it was deleted.

Although I didn't express my opinion at the time, I wished the post had not been deleted because it described the poster so clearly. Deleting the post simply helped hide the poster's venomous character.

Even so, this person seems to be a special case; someone with an excellent command of English and a talent for writing pseudo-rational comments. You have to read the posts with an interest in their subject for quite some time before the fundamental nastiness becomes clear. I know. In my slow-witted way, it took me a while to catch on.

As for deleting the posts, I've gone from opposing it to being agnostic about it. I dislike one-sidedness in anything, including praise of a faltering company. On the other hand, I despise the kind of deceit that oozes from this person. For my part, I like the kind of high-quality eye-openers that Zeev posted recently ... and your own objective comments which are a benefit to all of us.
