Market makers, those who buy and sell shares to create a liquid market, are manipulating the price per share down in an attempt to scare "weak hands", in other words those shareholders scared of a major price drop, into selling their position. It's called a shakedown and it's not working for them because noone is willing to sell at this price with full blown gold production possibilities so near in my honest opinion.
