For a chip-chip interconnect, yes. For a CPU interconnect, no. One size does not fit all, no matter what AMD would like to think. They say so because they don't have any other choice. Economics plays well with them if they can proliferate the same technology across various parts of their architecture. However, forcing a protocol to work well under vastly different circumstances is not without tradeoffs.
