#27293 RE: DonKeyhoti #27274

From the Imaging3 website

"The Dominion Volumetric Imaging Scanner, the DViS, is a patented breakthrough mobile fluoroscopy technology that produces high quality 3D images in real-time. It is the only product in existence that can produce a combination of high quality 2D, 3D real-time, and CT imagery in a single device. The unique engineering design accomplishes these capabilities while dramatically reducing exposure to radiation, and providing a small, mobile footprint for easy transport, all at a cost of about one third of existing CT devices."

My point in a nutshell:
1. the DViS does not have to do all of those things better than the competition. Only "as well as" the competition. If that is the case, they will not be able to make them fast enough.
2. If that is not the case, they will have a hard time convincing docs/hospitals to buy one.

Here is an example: Say you have a young man with abdominal pain - possible appendicitis. The wait time for CT scan in the Emergency Room (EC) is outrageous. If the DViS images the appendix just as well as CT, it can potentially cut the wait time by 90%. Just wheel it to the patient. Plug it in. Transfer the patient and start scanning. Every EC will need 1 or 2 - how about 3?
However, if it cannot image the appendix as well as CT, emergency rooms will have a hard time justifying the expense of a new toy.
