Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), has won the Exceptional Service Award in Public Safety, Public Works and Administration, part of the 2010 Best Fit Integrator Awards from e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government. The award recognized ACS’ ability to develop specialized technology to help the City of Riverside, Calif., better serve its residents.

“This award is a reflection of the city’s vision and the hard work of our partnership to help them meet their goals,” said Joseph Doherty, executive vice president and group president, ACS Government Solutions. “ACS’ work with the City of Riverside shows our commitment to projects that can lower costs and improve services.”

Previously, Riverside’s technology solutions were built independently of one another. Through the partnership of the city and ACS, applications are now easily integrated with existing systems; new solutions are deployed faster, components are reused, departments are securely sharing data and training is significantly reduced.

The first applications integrated include the Utility Department’s 311 system, the Public Works Department’s graffiti abatement system, the Community Development Department’s permits system, and the city’s work management system. Because the new applications are Web-based, they are easy to use and can be accessed from anywhere.

“The systems integration project has been a huge step forward,” said Steve Reneker, chief information officer, City of Riverside. “The results of our partnership with ACS have helped us run a more efficient government and make the City of Riverside an even better place to live.”

ACS was one of twelve winners chosen by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government for their work with government agencies to tailor solutions to suit the unique needs of the public sector. The center is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.
