Curious?.......my motherlaw who is a devout democrat likes him. She believes he's level headed, and extremely bright. I don't know enough about him, but again he's another wanting a long career, and this should be enough to not give it alot of thought. So many new politicians that want of come on board share alot of the same attributes, and this to could be in part why the people keep voting for and help reelect the ones they already are familiar with, for worse, or worser.

I'm not right or left, and my hope has been that she could look beyond who represents what party. This seems to be a good part of the problem, each party is like a club that lacks independent thinking. It sure makes their jobs easier by just going along with the crowd and jumping on the ban wagon.

There was one good ole career politician that I found to be interesting who opposed GATT, and fought hard against it, but to no avail........... former Sen.Hollings.

Hollings was kinda like a Pat Buchanan in many ways, always good for a laugh. Can't say I agree with all his views, but he gave a heck of an argument in opositon of GATT, and he was right. This guy had such a southern drawl, real deep south, at times it was hard to understand what he was saying. :). But again I never researched him. I just listened to his reasons of why he, and we should oppose GATT on the floor viewing Cspan, and his hope was to get the support he needed to defeat it. First came NAFTA then this.
