Elixe, do I read correctly that there can only be 256 MB (now) of external memory?

The number of chips on the bus is a function of the chip bit width. With two 32-bit channels it’s possible to have as many as 16 chips per channel in x2-bit mode. With 512 Mb chips you could get 2GB of memory.

The 256 MB is based on four 512Mb 16-bit chips.
