As I recall.. and understand it, in a nutshell.

Barnett made an agreement with Nathan to do the legal work in the suit against lanza etal.

There was a list of assets that were known to belong to Omda but since Lanza is famous for playing shell games with assets it was likely that there were assets out there that had passed through or belonged to Omda that might be found if someone was willing to spend the time.

Nathan didn't want to work on a pure contingency and Barnett couldn't afford to pay his rate so there was some combination agreed to. Some $/hr. and a % of whatever he could find.

Things got clouded up when Nathan discovered enough that he thought and suggested bringing in a large lawfirm. Which they did.

Barnetts position was that he wasn't going to pay the lawfirm and Marty too. I doubt Marty ever got paid anything but I don't know that. He did discover Concorde Dome which wasn't on the list of assets. I'm guessing he is owed a % of that at least.

Simple, AB/OMDA stiffed him and so he is seeking other avenues to get paid.
