From a profit point of view, it seems that it would have been better for the bottom lines of both companies if they had delayed dual-core. Why does AMD need something faster than their current chips? I guess you could make the argument that Intel needs something faster on the desktop though. But pushing AMD to go dual-core early seems to be the wrong way to do it.
I think that it's going to be quite a while before I see DC in a notebook anyways. Intel or AMD. But maybe a DIY approach could be used.
