That question was asked before on this board. Someone said MM's always find a way of manipulating sell orders, others mentioned that if you have a cash account you can lock up shares but not on a margin account. I think there are folks more expert than myself who can answer that better.

these are probably not broker shorts...that would not be economical due to the margin requirements for shorting. IMHO these are MM desk shorts
