The problem when a company needs money is that they will typically add shares in order to bring in that money. While this is the main reason for going public it isn't great for shareholders unless they are using that money to build value. If they are just using it for normal operating costs then it is a big negative for shareholders. If they are using it to acquire new business or streamline their existing business, then it could be a big win. They just need to pull a profit.
