My skepticism of even my own DD tells me at least half the time just ignore the buyout and treat it as more of a wild card and just look for valuation.
Sometimes companies can't get what they think they deserve and there's no buyout for that reason alone, resulting in them growing the company themselves so it is hard to play for that purpose IMO. Only exception is if my DD suggests a bidding war is to take place like I did with Quaker Oats but even then the valuation of the stock justified me holding it.
