And here's some research re stone market:

Markets expect increased demand for stone in the USA

Demand for natural and artificial stone will rise in the second half of 2010. So predict the market reseachers of US-based Catalina Research, who foresee a domestic trend toward the modernization of existing structures, which will boost demand for building materials such as stone.

This trend is detailed in a report by The Marble Institute of America (MIA) entitled "2010 Survey of the Natural Stone Industry," which evaluates the development of the stone industry over the next five years. This upward development fits within the overall picture of the American construction industry, which is worth $836 million USD annually, of which $528 million is spent by families and private corporations. BusinessStone.com noticed a similar upward trend in structure modernization in July of 2009, all of which bodes well for the quarrying and sale of stone.

The MIA study is based on a survey of stone industry representatives from America, Asia and Europe. 62.5 percent of North American respondents revealed they would be investing in their companies in 2010. With 21.7 percent planning to buy equipment and approximately the same percentage planning investments in property and human resources, it would appear that the global stone industry is in a healthy position to rebound from a recent decline and once again occupy a central place in the American construction market.

NW Tech Capital Inc. (NWTT) subsidiary Bermal Contracting Ltd. currently excavates patio stone (horizontal & stand up veneer), ledge stone, stackable stone & corner stone, and boulder stone from British Columbia, Canada. All stone comes in a number of unique colors and a variety of textures and shades, allowing landscapers to create customized designs. Bermal plans to start producing stone and pallets of varying size that will be sold directly to medium and high-end landscapers.
