#23445 RE: Math Junkie #23441

There is nothing certain about continuing republican rule. Hysterical democrats turned off enough red staters to give Bush a 3 million vote win. Progressive thought is not owned by the liberals and some of their policies are down right reactionary. For instance i am not for bush SS plan as stated. Too risky and too expensive. But the use of private accounts in a plan where benefits are cut (raising retirement age and indexing to CPI instead of wages) and funding thru different non-payroll taxes like VAT may be a lot more fair. Liberal knee jerk is that sales taxes not fair, raising age and changing indexing is anti working class and private accounts benefit only the already rich. This is all wrong imo but should be debated in order to get a sensible consensus based outcome. Bipartisan domestic policy may have to come before bipartisan FP. mike

Were it not for living her first 4-years in Canada, Granholm of Michigan would be the best candidate the Dems could put forward in 2008, IMO.

She's attractive (former model), a great communicator, smiles a lot, has a very outgoing personality, and doesn't have a lot of the baggage other dems have.

Of course, were it possible "forners" could run, the Repubs would likely counter with "Ahnold" and make it very interesting.
