Covidien PLC's (COV, $36.82, -$1.70, -4.40%) fiscal third-quarter earnings climbed 30%, beating analysts' estimates, as stronger medical-device sales boosted the bottom line and margin rose. But it lowered its drug-sales outlook for the year, not something it typically does, and said it believes analysts' revenue forecasts are too high.
