Does it even make sense to short a stock that is already worthless?

Yes, but I am never certain how to interpret that.

20M short sales for this stock is not much with the huge OS, and 38M volume for the day is rather small compared to our busier days.

Besides, how much money can one make shorting a stock which is already at rock bottom? A drop from 0003 to 0002 or 0001 is still only about $2000-4000 gain for the 20M of short sales. Is the risk really worth that, when the stock runs up by a factor of 10 or more suddenly by history? For a potential gain of $2000, a shorter would also be risking a loss of >$20000 if the stock suddenly ran up to .001 on some good news and stayed there.

I doubt the shorties are really playing here at the moment.

By whom? Someone posted on this site that you couldn't short a penny stock. Evidently, they were wrong?! I've heard that if you are buying from a margin account, then your shares could be "borrowed" by your broker to allow another trader to short. My broker from TD Ameritrade said that you could flag your account to not allow your shares to be used for shorting. Anyone know for sure who is able to short and how? What say you, Tavy/Sheck????????
