"The LUST of Money is the root of all evil"...... Explanation and a very short answer. When you "LUST" for something, you are able to do just about anything to get it. That is the root of all evil when you LUST for money, you are able to steal, cheat, swindle, lie, murder, etc etc to get it and that lust comes from one's "cup" (heart).
Mankind is not the root of all evil. God gave man the ability to "choose" and to make "choices". It's the choices we make that dictate how we "chose" to live our lives. When one's "CUP" (heart) tells them to "lust" after money, then they "chose" to do just about anything for money and they are "choosing" to replace God's love in their hearts with a false Idol......... It gets very deep when one talks about "lust/money" all in the same sentence, but when one is able to "worship" a false idol and replace God's love with greed, then it's the death spiral until God lays conviction on that persons heart for the choices they have made and then once again, you will chose to either change your path and ask forgiveness, or continue on a path of desctruction. Money is not evil as God himself will use money to further his kingdom and help his children. I CHOSE TO LOVE as God loved me and even thoughh I love with dang near the entirety of my heart sometimes, I come so very short of God's love for us. Kind of humble's me to think about how much I'm loved and we've never shook hands......... hmmmmmmmmmm????? now my wheels are really turning and i've only had 4 hrs of sleep....... Interesting times we live in and there's a bunch of seeds being planted...... Gotta love a beautiful garden man.... ;-)
