Now that I am retired, I do not have to pay as much attention to the Joint Commission that I once did. (Ahhhh a welcome relief) But I agree, it will likely become one of their standards and it will not only be a part of care givers operational standards, but could also include an expectation that healthcare facilities adopt purchasing standards that somehow include radiation levels as part of their normal safety requirements.
The reality however is that if the Chief of Radiology or Interventional Cardiologist wants a product, they normally will get it. Moreover, unless there is a major safety issue, hospitals will find ways to tap dance around the purchasing requirements.
