I haven't read your link but I am familiar with RAM disks from times past. :) They're transitory, and their data can be lost on a crash or restart. There can be programs to save what goes into them so that material will restart in a RAM disk when the computer restarts, but as I remember, data can still be lost on a crash. Has that changed?
