I am a veteran as well, although I never served in a war. I do have a disability rating from the VA. I broke 2 vertebrae in the middle of my back while in Fort Irwin, CA.

My brother actually received a Bronze Star while serving in Kuwait when he used his body to shield unconscious soldiers from shrapnel that was flying around after an ammo depo explosion.

I can't even imagine what you received your purple heart and silver star for, and I'm sure that the memories are probably something you would like not to remember.

I must say, though from one Veteran to another, that I am extremely proud of your sacrifice, and I also thank you.

I hope this investment will reap the rewards that you definitely deserve, and you are able to purchase your medals back if you so choose to do so.
