Elmer, Re: They are just barely getting 2400+s out the door and it's not a good bet that they will be able to ship 2800+ in anything resembling volume in the near term.
I just checked Pricewatch for availability of those AMD parts.
- Accubyte and Sonic are the only vendors that actually have 2400+ chips in stock, but neither have any 2600+ processors.
- Monarch claims that they will ship 2400+ chips on October 3rd, but they too are not offering any 2600+ chips.
- Lynn says early to mid October for the 2400+ and mid to late October for the 2600+ processors.
- Spartan, PC Progress, and CBWNet say ETA of 10/7 for the 2400+ or 2600+ chips.
- M-Star has 2400+ listed, but says out of stock and ETA of September (?)
- ComputerHQ has both 2400+ and 2600+ listed, but they say "due in" with no date.
That's the entire list for AMD. Yes, the 2400+ are trickling in from two vendors, but that's it, and the 2600+ are still MIA. I wouldn't expect AMD to get much revenue on chips that aren't available.
