20:00 EDT 30JUL2010 Blogtalkradio.com

Rough summary notes from the interview today. Do not take the quotes as word-for-word. If you want the full bit, go listen on the website.

Mike – Host “Stock Goodies”

Chris, Maliki, Patrick, Cher, Troy - Co-Moderators

ZIPPI Networks CEO, ZIPZ.pk, Robert R.

“I have been in the internet business for 18 years, partners with my brother. Involved from the start in dialup. Realized opportunities were there to education the population about the internet in the early 90’s. Started company ultimately bought by Earthlink. Authored a web directory published to McMillan.”

“Started GeoCities competitor. Sold off company in 2002.”

“Set up ZIPPY with private network and relationships with eBay starting in 2002. Interactive tutorials, hosting, and wholesale products available to private parties.”

“ZIPZ was created to capitalize on the wholesale product wave entering eBay in the early 2000’s. Turning clutter into cash became their motto. Zippy created a platform to track members, payout commissions, build teams and track revenues.”

“Shifted to mobile applications with Zippy Swap as a business model as an app. Due to be released in the coming weeks. Being tested as we speak.”

“During that transition, Zippy decided to include games, social networking, and dating among upcoming product streams.”

“Exponential explosion of application market.”

“Mobile apps are the next wave in conjunction with company websites.”

“BP Blaster released last week in approval pipeline with Apple.”

“Excited about future in mobile applications market.”

“Currently targeting iPhone and iPad.”

“Future will offer us the chance to cross over to other phones.”

“Zippy is so sure about the market for mobile apps because of their experience, having their finger on the pulse in Silicon Valley.”

“The iFund is pushing the application development for Apple with more than $800 million in funding.”

“Sometimes experts can be wrong, but looking at experts, statistics, and iTunes store – This is the Future!”

“As of this date, Apple has paid out more than a Billion dollars in application download revenue to app developers – 45K developers out there right now.”

“Apps average $2.80/each.”

“I see the next wave of the internet will be partability, interactive features, moving applications to multiple platforms (i.e., Droid, etc.)”

“The download fee is driving the market, but advertising and in-game revenue will take shape as revenue models within that market. Companies are being successful through ads on their games. i.e., Paper Toss – this game alone has brought in 400K per month in advertising revenue off of a free app.”

“Advertising partners may include AdMob and iAds moving forward. Actively in conversations with both groups. Will ultimately probably have to pick one.”

“We want to be laser focused with bringing the right ads to our apps.”

Regarding revenue channel models –

“The more aps we develop, the more momentum.”

“1 in 10 apps bring in significant revenue.”

“Moving to reach critical mass with apps in the Apple pipeline.”

“Social networking and at least 5 other apps are targeted to reach the market by end of the year.”

“We will be looking at download revenue, ad revenue, in app avenue (i.e., ZippySwap).”

“ZippySwap app will be based on $1.50 insertion fee.”

“Current model emphasizes “in app purchases” to increase functionality for players.”

“I would like to share with the listeners, that Zippy has been through several different cycles as a company. We spent $9 million to focus on eBay with our previous efforts. We recognize our business model was not scaleable, and the logistics were too tremendous to continue. Rather than drive the company into bankruptcy, we decided to pull back and reposition the company in a market that is exploding. We are quick on our feet. Recognize trends. We are in early and that can make all the difference in the world.”

“I see our company building up a significant mobile app database.”

“I see Zippy becoming a fun memorable brand representing a mobile experience you will enjoy and remember.”

“Have a look at the website and check out the apps, etc.”
