Rare Earth Metals Corp.: Appointment of Officer

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 20, 2005) - Rare Earth
Metals Corp., (TSX VENTURE:REM), (the "Company") announces that Dr.
George H. Gale, BA(Ed), BSc, MSc, PhD has joined its exploration team as
Vice-President of Exploration. Dr. Gale is well known in Canadian
geological circles. He has over 40 years experience in the field of
geology, focused on mineral deposits and exploration techniques. He has
authored over 130 scientific papers.

In 1977, Dr. Gale was appointed head of the Mineral Deposits Section at
the Manitoba Geological Survey. During his time as head of the section,
most of the known base metal and gold mineral deposits and occurrences
in the Province of Manitoba were investigated in detail. The results are
published as a series of comprehensive mineral deposit reports and now
form the backbone of the Geological Survey's mineral deposit database.

The Company's President and CEO, John Roozendaal states that "The
appointment of Dr. Gale as V.P. Exploration adds depth and experience to
our exploration team. His knowledge and perspective on the geology of
mineral deposits, geochemical exploration techniques and, particularly
the geology and mineral deposits of Manitoba, where we are exploring six
properties, will provide the Company unique insights in our search for
mines in Manitoba."

Dr. Gale will become an integral part of the planning and execution of
the Company's overall exploration strategies. His initial
responsibilities will be to offer analysis and guidance on the company's
contemplated 2005 drill programs at the 100% owned Assean Lake
"extension" claims (Gold), the Eden Lake claims (I.O.C.G. Uranium/REE)
and the South Bay Project (Nickel). He will then participate in these
programs on the ground with the Company's exploration team. Dr. Gale
will be based in Manitoba.

I see there is no press release on this property. I guess they are keeping it quite for now. Its not even mentioned on todays release. Where did yo get the blurb you posted?

This one will eventually come back. I hope you post here when it starts moving so I can pick some up.
