Ya know, after talking with Robert on Friday, I'm sure the device
they're developing for APS, is considerably different from what they
are developing for DivX. I questioned the screen size of the O 1000,
compared with the most receint photo with Collier and Johnson from
about a month ago, and was told it was an entirely different device
with a larger screen size. The possibilities are considreable and he
stated trains as well as rental cars were target markets....(Others
have mentioned museum guides.) Which codec, was up to the studios,
whatever codec the content providers chose. The apparent advantage to
content providers is security, and the opportunity to EDIG, is the
developing relationship with the content providers. The device
reguires a password to imput content and seemingly can't be hacked or
ripped off / per virtue of the security. Once content is loaded it
can not be reloaded with different content without the password,
rendering it virtually useless. It sounds like much more insight will
be provided at the shareholders meeting......The other thing I found
most interesting is his responce to my questioning Dataplays
demise....He said that "They are continuing development of Dataplay
devices at the direction of OEM's: expecting Dataplays technology to
be bought out. We would hear more about this at the shareholders
meeting."
