On Scottrade you can hit the manage feature and request a $ or % or news release to your Alerts section or to your email. Just did it.

scottrade emails me news almost instantaneously.

My schwab account has an option where I can sign up for alerts for news, pr, filings, etc.

If your broker doesn't have that feature, I've used a site called Easy Stock Alerts before, I think they will allow you to sign up for alerts for up to 6 different tickers for free.

Etrade has it but only if you sign up for the pro account, not sure about the exact name. It's the one for more active traders. But anyway, it gives you up to date news as soon as it hits the public, you can choose insert the ticker symbols. Not sure though if they "text/email" to you but it does alert you on your platform.
