My take on viricides is that they can quickly reduce the viral load when a person becomes infected, thus allowing the immune system not to be overhelmed, giving it time to mount an antibody reaction that will clear the rest of the infection, much the same way antibiotics work. Clearing the virus extracellularly represents much less potential for toxicity than trynig to address the infection intracellularily which is much more likely to be associated with many possible untoword outcomes. The RNA approach has many unanswered questions and is a long way from being a proven safe option.
