Cap...

Two of my friends and I used to go on 3-5 day hikes up there since we were 15 by ourselves. We quit about 20 years ago but I still go once in a while (not often enough). We were doing 25 miles a day back then in rough terrain I was still doing 20 this trip in moderate terrain and sh!tty conditions. It depends on your drive as to how long you want to be out there. I would say if you even did 15 in bad terrain and 20-22 in good and stopped every 3 to 5 days for supplies and once a week to take a day off you could make it in 4 months unless the weather was horrible.

You would all have to hike a few days together first to make sure you can agree on hiking speed and compatibility. The last thing you want is to be somewhere 24/7 with someone in those conditions. Too many places to cast them over the edge and be done with the nonsense...lol You think 3000 continuous hours with some jackass might get on your nerves??? YES!!!

I'll be glad to hike with anyone for a test hike and would love to go as a group the whole way one day.

I've hiked part of the AT trail along the Skyline drive in VA.
I would like to do a thru hike but will allow 6 months.
I'm slow and like to look around a lot.
If I don't go soon I may be too old.
What kind of stove do each of you use?
I'm thinking of trying an alcohol "Super Cat"
Never used alcohol stove before.
