Yes it was. Doing the whole trail at once will be tough for sure. You should practice by doing a 3-4 day hike. Let me know if you ever do and I will go too if you want company. Sometimes it is great to go alone and clear out the cobwebs too.

I figure the whole trail could be done in 4 months all at once.
