How does a simple, 7-year old file management system for flash memory "power" any device?

The DSP would be responsible for that. In the case of the digEplayer, that's from Ittiam. In fact, Ittiam refers to the digEplayer and other products that license its DSPs as "fuelled by Ittiam." In the case of e.Digital's other platforms, the DSP was from TI.

It seems that many shareholders just accept the suggestive terminology the company uses as some sort of fact. Very little of anything they say (other than in SEC filings) is factual (it's all "forward looking language"). In many cases, things they state are factual, turn out not to be.

Murrayhill dug up this old letter to shareholders. Despite the phenomenal hype contained in it, Fred admitted the following:

"MicroOS is a pure software flash file management system that is compact yet robust..."

Instead of becoming a "global standard" in "millions of Internet-related digital products." MOS has become a mythical technology. Virtually none of the increasingly embellished claims made about it since 2000 have any basis in fact. There have been no patent updates since its first approval, yet the company talks about MOS 1.0, MOS 2.0, etc. It's still just the original Norris Flash File System that Daberko invented for the FlashBack voice recorder.
