WASHINGTON (AP) - The top members of the Senate Intelligence Committee are calling for "new defenses," including stricter screening and tracking of travelers from Pakistan, to protect against another attacker like Times Square bomb attempt suspect Faisal Shahzad.
Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein of California says the suspect "was almost completely under the radar," with nothing suspicious that could have tipped anyone off before the attack.
She spoke after a top secret briefing by intelligence officials on Capitol Hill.
The top Republican on the committee, Kit Bond of Missouri, agreed but added that he wants more definitive evidence linking Shahzad to the Pakistani Taliban.
