SH - "Life is Beatiful" was very good. The actor - can't think of his name - won best actor. Did you see his acceptance "speech". If I remember correctly he was almost dancing. I read that people in Italy were so overjoyed that there literally was some dancing in the streets.

Just thought of "Sophies Choice". Not really the same type of film, but just came to mind. "Sophies Choice" really blew me away.

Speaking of Glen Close, she made "Fatal Attraction" such a thriller!! There's a story to tell here, but I'll save it for later.

Another subtitled film is the original French made "La Femme Nikita". Really. Bears only a mild resemblance to the TV version. There was an American version with Bridget Fonda called "Point of No Return", but the original is much better. There is also a dubbed version, but they give "Nikita" a cutsie voice - YUK.

Haven't seen "Cries and Whispers".

I think eventually we'll get to discussing one or two films at a time and make recommendations to one another on films one of us has missed.

Of course every one is invited to join in. The more the merrier.
